Genus: Expression oriented
Sammet category: Specialised Languages

for Advanced Boolean Equation Language

Language for behavior-like desriptions of a logic circuit.

Developed by Data I/O Corp. for programmable logic devices. Other hardware desription languages include: VHDL and VERLOG, but ABEL is simpler.  ABEL can be used to describe the behavior of a system in a variety of forms including logic equations, truth tables, and state diagrams using C-like statements.

The ABEL compiler allows designs to be simulated and implemented into PLD's such as PAL's, CPLD's, and FPGA's.
