The analog simulation system created by Selfridge at China Lake using block siumulation to implement Simpson's Rule.

This is generally credited to be the very first digital continuous simualtions system, and running on the IBM 701 had no Floating Point.

Chu says "...in 1955 development of assemblers was in its early stage. Interpreters, compilers, monitors and other software that are commonplace today had not been conceived and developed. Thus, Selfridge was a Charles [Babbage], because computer technology and programming techniques were not ready"
