StP was first released two years later, in 1985. In 1996 Thomson Software Products (TSP) acquired IDE and created Aonix to develop and market the products it had acquired not just from IDE, but also from its acquisitions of Must and Alsys (which itself had taken over Telesoft). However, TSP soon realised that there was a lack of synergy between Aonix and the rest of the company and it sold Aonix to the Gores Technology Group in 1998. This is a privately held buyout firm focused on acquiring and managing technology businesses. The company?s acquisition and investment strategy is to target companies with revenues that range from $10 million to $1 billion, and encourage their growth and development in an entrepreneurial and rewarding environment. Founded in 1992, Gores has successfully completed the acquisition of some 30 companies with a total transaction value of approximately $500 million."
