In this paper we describe the HLL programming language BASIL. In another paper [1], we provide a description of the HLL computer—also called BASIL. We begin with a brief overview of the hardware. The first part of the overview describes the Logic Machine, a computer-aided design system we have developed [2]. The second part describes the LM2 [3] (Logic Machine Minicomputer), from which BASIL has evolved. The BASIL language was first made operational on LM2.
