"PIXIN: A Data Language for Network Modelling" pp296-300 view details Abstract: This paper describes a data language used for representing models consisting of objects that have attributes and relationships. A text in such a language is termed a datagram. Emphasis is placed on the natural expression of ideas about the world. A datagram can contain information defining mapping from the model to its conventional diagramatic representation used for validation and development of the model. Datagrams may be segmented, providing significant economies and permitting the establishment of libraries of submodels. The ease with which complex models may be constructed or amended, enable it to be used in conjunction with, or as a more economic substitute for a graphics system.

Review of Atkinson 1974 view details Abstract: While the data language described may be an interesting alternative for information representation, this reviewer found the paper, except for the introduction and description of the conceptual model, impossible to understand. Researchers interested in the problems of information representation (particularly picture description languages) may find this paper useful as a pointer to work being conducted on these problems in England.
