    Another attempt at a language for writing operating systems is SL/8, which the developers admit is machine dependent. It is designed for writing an operating system for the PDP-8/I. SL/8 has some resemblance to ALGOL but has incorporated features from other languages and has commands which refer to specific input/output devices.
