Abstract: The need to resort to using dumps of core storage when debugging programs has been a continuing feature of computing. These dumps are like vermin: attempts to eradicate them from some areas have succeeded but they continually reappear in other areas. Each new machine or operating system brings new problems. This paper presents a new weapon, which the user can employ to keep dumps in check.
