It is an improved version of its predecessor PACTOLUS and is written for the IBM 1620 II computer with 40-K of memory and a rather full complement of peripherals, including an IBM 1627 plotter.

DIANA includes all the standard analog computer elements in its block-oriented language, as well as many of the desirable features of more extensive programs such as CSSL. In particular, DIANA offers sorting, centralized integration with adaptive error control, and useful features for man/machine communication. The latter include online plotting faith the ability to make configuration, and  parameter changes, not only between runs but also with a "continuation" option.

DIANA appears capable of simulating significantly complex physical systems. The report contains three examples which adequately illustrate program use. A source listing of DIANA is also presented in the appendix.
