L. review of Grasselli and McCluskey 1961 (Boolean Algol) view details Abstract: The authors remark that Boolean variables in ALGOL are intended for use in connection with program flow, and that supplementary tools are advantageous if Boolean operations are to be carried out per se (Boolean computation). They propose an independent introduction of (operations binaires) with binary values, variables, operations and expressions; and a list notation for arrays of binary variables with uniform operations to be carried out on them. Two binary expressions, connected by an equal or unequal sign, lead to a Boolean primary. Thus, (operations binaires) and arithmetical operations are on the same level, an idea which clarifies notation, but also to some extent leads to duplications.
