Abstract: DPL (Direct Programming Language) is designed to enable users unfamiliar with computers to perform fairly complex mathematical calculations. Tot his end the system employs two dimensional notation and prompting. The basic philosophy behind and background to DPL are outlined, followed by a description of the language and how it is used. A brief account of the implementation, and future development is given.
