  • ANNOUNCEMENT: SOL/P350 FOR VISIBLE RECORDKEEPING Computer Weekly, 1970, August 6 view details Abstract: A compiler for the Philips P350 series of visible record computers will be built by the British software firm, Computer Analysts and Programmers. The compiler is designed to run on an IBM 360/30, and will produce an object deck ready for input into either the P352 or P353. The language accepted by the compiler is SOL, designed with typical Visible Record Computer applications in mind. It will allow the user to control the efficiency of the generated object code. The language features a subroutine library, a data division and command division, error reports, and default facilities.
The compiler will primarily be used by Philips programmers working for customers, but it is also to be made available for direct customer use.
The new compiler is to be completed by the end of November, and will be the third compiler for the Philips P350 series, each using a different high level language.
