Preliminary work on adding character handling facilities by IBM ca. 1962. This name never really used.

The additions include STRING statements, STRUCTURES, PICTURES, literals, set operations, NAME LIST, and multiple-entry subroutines

This proposal was superseded by the development of the "New Programming Language" (NPL), which eventually became PL/I.
