One of the languages to receive an ill-flavoured and ill-considered rebuke from Dijkstra (who liked it his way or no way and who was of the opinion that an ad hoc assemblage of mathematical notation put together by a committee of computer enthusiasts was superior to 4,000 years of mathematical intellectual endeavour. In this he was wrong.).
