Cimpl (Clics IMPlementation Language) is designed for pedagogical use and to provide a means of coding Clics (Classroom Information and Computing Service) [Clark, 1971]. The latter is an abstraction of MULTICS and is used for classroom use at MIT. Cimpl is based on concepts from PL/I but differs from it considerably in both syntax and addition and deletion of features. However, it is similar to most other languages designed for programming systems.
