First we introduce the concept of "local" and "global" names in a command language for a network. A network command language is to be considered as a metalanguage giving access to network services. But the "local" names permit direct access to services known to a given site and therefore must be interpreted locally. The relation between command "global" and "local" names is studied. Secondly, objects such as cpu, unit, volume, manipulated by command languages are structured and relations existing between their objects are elaborated. We also provide a structure to express these relations. The main ones are: "contents of", "belongs to", "pooled with" and "affinity". As an example, a given volume "contains" one or many files, a file "belongs to" a volume or a list of volumes (it then forms a pool) and it has "affinity with" other files on the same volume. in IFIP TC-2 Working Conf. on Command Languages, Lund, 1974. view details in Rosenfeld, Jack L.
