General Activity Simulation Program

Dicrete event simulation system/language featuring flow-chart input and semi-object features.

Philip Kiviat, Applied Research Laboratory at United States Steel Corporation and COrnell U Postgrad

Began 1961, initially based on Algol 60, then moved to Fortran II by 1962.

Designed to be multi-platform from beginning (IBM, CDC, Bendix). First complete presentation at Cornell in 1962, first manual dated January 16 1963.

GASP model made up of elements, described with attributes. Changes of attributes occur by activities (either instantaneous or over a time). Models evolved through action of GASP exectuive, which utilised the SCHED (scheduler) and stepped through the model.
